Our wee lil babe! Casey’s started standing all on his own recently and we couldn’t be more excited 🥺 we’ve had A step here and there, but he’s not confident enough juuuust yet. Reckon a lil trip to get some shoes are on the cards very soon though! 💕

Completely unrelated outfit 😂 but as I enter Week 3 (or 5 according to Uni) at school, here are a few things I’ve already learnt whilst on my PGCE Primary Teaching course:
🍎 Having a daily planner is a must - even if you’re like me and have to quadruple check you’ve done absolutely everything to make sure you’ve not missed anything!
🍎 Observations are everything - I can’t tell you how much I’ve already learnt from watching my mentor teach after 2 weeks! My worries were definitely around behaviour and the actual nature of explaining things to 6 year olds (if that makes sense?!) but she’s full of tricks that I’m definitely adopting!
🍎 You’ll cry… a lot - which is fine! The first two weeks have been a MINEFIELD to navigate, no one knows what they’re doing, what to fill in, what to look out for, but I’m slowly starting to get to grips with it all and fully expecting it to fall apart again when I start my first big PGCE assignment next week!
🍎 The anxiety is normal - especially if you’re like me and you’re moving on from a nearly decade long career. You won’t know what you’re doing and that’s fine - you’re learning, you’re not meant to know yet!
🍎 Make time for you, even if it’s a few hours on a Saturday. It’s a lot of work. Especially if you’ve got a family or other responsibilities, and it’s easy to get carried away and forget about yourself, but you need a few hours just to remember there are other things you can focus on and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a big change to your life (particularly for us after nearly two years of being at home all together), but don’t get swallowed up by it all.

So far though, it’s been so good. I think we really lucked out with our class, they’re all so lovely and have the funniest personalities. My mentor is so supportive too and because she did a PGCE as well, with a mentor who wasn’t the greatest, she makes sure to do everything she didn’t get and I am so grateful for that!
So now I’ve got to prep my lunch and find an outfit - I’m sorry if you’re bored of my teaching chat, but I’m really enjoying it! 😂✨

I’ve started planning what to wear in the evenings because the 6am panic is not the one - I’ll share some of my outfits in a reel soon, maybe in a couple of years, when I find an hour 🥴😂!

1st birthday party complete 🎂
Still not quite over the fact that we’ve got a 1 year old but we had a little celebration with some of our friends today @theyardstamford and it was so, so lovely. The staff are fab, and went over and above to make it super special. 🤍

🎁🎈🎂 Casey’s first trip around the sun and what a trip it’s been! I’m not sure where the past year has gone, and I’m not sure what we’ve done to be blessed with, not one, but two incredible little humans, but we know for a fact that we got so lucky.

If he’s not hungry or tired, Casey is just the happiest little soul; chatty, constantly dancing and just pleased to exist.

We love you beyond the sun, the moon and the stars Case.

Tomorrow is the last day before my Mat Leave ✨of

Tomorrow is the last day before my Mat Leave ✨officially✨ ends and on Thursday, I start my inset days at school. I’d been on furlough since March 2020, and to say this past year and a half has flown by would be an understatement. I’m dreading leaving Casey - my fear of missing things with him has been going into overdrive over the last few weeks and my anxiety has been keeping me up into the early hours of the morning, but I know that throwing myself into the deep end will be well worth it! Today we took the kids to see some crocodiles, then headed into Cambridge for a browse of the shops and some food. The kids were so, so good and despite some hiccups, it was just so nice to make the most of these last few days before the madness starts. I am feeling such a mixture of emotions right now, and despite this year being horrendous, all the little pockets of joy (one huge one being Casey) has made it one of the best for our little family. ✨

I checked the calendar the other day and realised

I checked the calendar the other day and realised that I had just over two weeks before I’d be back at work - I guess I’d been so busy spinning other plates that I just forgot how soon it was. It’s put me in a bit of a mild panic that soon I’ll be back to full time work/uni. I’ve been so lucky to have been home since March last year, getting the chance to spend loads of time with Isla and now, nearly a full year with Casey and I’m so, so sad it’s coming to an end - I’ve been trying to fit everything in to make sure I get to soak up every moment with him. One half of me is envious that other mamas get to stay at home, and I wish I could do the same, but the other half is grateful to have a purpose outside of being a mama, so it’s a tough one. I’m so gutted that I’ll potentially miss moments, to go on fun days out when it’s not busy haha and mostly I’m afraid that he won’t need me for much anymore, once he’s with his childminder/other childcare.
It’s a difficult change that I’m sure I’ll struggle with initially, but I just hope it gets easier because I’m so sad about it right now.
